Dear Editor
The Grand Old Party had a get together where they handed self serving awards out. They’re overwhelmingly proud of the state of the nation they left for the next administration to deal with. They willfully stalled out for seven years in Afghanistan, while they wasted lives and treasure in Iraq. That is why Afghanistan is in trouble today. The Iraq war is our biggest blunder in History. It will take several more months before we are disengaged there. As one of the speakers, former Vice President Cheney gave his assessment of the Presidents handling of the Afghan war. He told his admirers that Obama’s a failure, and just how weak this nation has become during these pass ten months. The only real experience he has with military matters is avoiding the draft while his peers were fighting and dying for their country in Vietnam. He said “He had better things to do.” Cheney said that Obama was dithering and indecisive because he’s applying thought to what his next move will be. It’s a fact, Bush’s administration didn’t give much thought to anything they did.
The three and four tours of combat in Iraq has taken it’s toll on our troops. Our troops are suffering from combat fatigue, the generals are calling for 40,000 combat ready forces for Afghanistan, and many Americans want an end to this war. One thing is certain Mr. and Mrs. Republican, if Obama sides with Cheney, are your children ready for the draft?
