Sometimes people say to me, “Where do you get all those ideas?” Well, actually, most of the ideas I use are not mine.  They just come from listening and watching other people or I use what other people are saying.  So far today, I thought I’d use eight or 10 famous quotes from other people and how they impact our life. For example:
If I keep doing what I’m doing, I’ll keep getting what I’m getting.  Einstein once said “Insanity is keep doing what you’re doing but expecting different results.”  Our current behavior is so much affected by our early — and many times false — programming, which favors limitations.  “We don’t do it that way.”  “Remember who you are.”  One of the most critical ones is “Be satisfied, you can’t have everything.” Being satisfied is a dead end. We can be grateful, but not satisfied with ourselves.  If we want to have more, we must be more.  Just remember growth is optional — decay is automatic.
The Serenity Prayer: “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.”
The Serenity Prayer is better than Tylenol or Nexium. Life sometimes gets complicated, anxiety sets in, but here’s a solution. If there’s something you can do, do it. If it’s beyond my control, move on. “He makes me so mad” Actually, no one can make me mad except me. I’m in charge of my thoughts.  We all have difficult moments, but it’s how we act or react that affects the outcome. The War Department (my wife, Tip) had a birthday last week.  Someone her age shouldn’t have a flat tire, on a country road, 150 miles from home.  When she saw the flat tire, she had a choice: (1) look at it, (2) change it, or (3) call for help.  She called me, 911, the police department, the tire shop. Making the calls was what she could do to solve the problem. What she called me is none of your business.
William Jones once said, “The greatest discovery of my generation is that a human being can alter his life by altering his attitude of mind.” Everything we experience is affected by our attitude. It influences everything we say or do.  Just think of your life, your personality, your talents, your dreams, what if there was just one thing to make them all great. Well, there is one thing, and that one thing is your attitude.  If you worked on your attitude of life every day for 30 days, you’d be a different person. If that was your choice, it wouldn’t be luck, it would be you.
“When I pause to think about what sets some men apart, I think goals in life would be the first place to start.”
A skyscraper is built by design, and so is our life.  Having a plan, a goal is the place to start.  One of my favorite quotes is that “high Performance always begins the framework of high expectations.”  To have something, you must first expect it.  When we talk about goal setting, we think of the New Year’s resolution we make, but seldom do they materialize because we don’t have a plan.  We get stymied by saying “how” are we going to do it, when how is not as important as “why.” If you know “why,” the “how” will appear.  The power in goal setting is the process, the steps we go through to make it.
So here’s a great opportunity for you: A free 30-day goal-setting, attitude-changing seminar Just For You! It will be July 21 at the Memorial Auditorium.  If you want to be part of this “Life Changing Event” just shoot me an e-mail, listed below and I’ll send you the details.  It’s free, but it may cost you if you don’t come.  Everybody is eligible.
