Thumbs up... to the 23 PSU student-athletes who were honored Thursday for their accomplishments on and off the field. Those graduating senior athletes who received a 3.25 or higher were honored by Pittsburg State and Commerce Bank. We applaud these students for their commitment to their educations and wish them all well after graduation.
Thumbs down... to unsafe driving in high water. The county had to make a couple of water rescues Thursday. Remember that sometimes it is hard to judge just how deep water is when it comes over the road. Keep in mind the National Weather Service’s motto: “Turn around, don’t drown.”
Thumbs up... Tyson Hallam, the 14 year-old who broke a 31-year record for the state’s largest largemouth bass. The Scammon teen caught the 11 pound, 12 ounce fish, which is 28 inches in length and 19 1/8 inches in girth. We congratulate Tyson on his record-breaking catch.
