PITTSBURG —

Dear editor:

Give me a break Congress, why did you leave on your 4th of July recess without doing 1 thing for all the Americans suffering at the gas pumps?  I’ve had enough of our officials not working together and who instead engage in only finger-pointing.  Our leaders tend to forget that they are supposed to be working for us and not the other way around.

So far only 1 Democrat, and as usual it wasn’t Nancy Boyda, has had enough common sense to join a majority of Republican leaders on the road to lead American to energy  independence.  Also, don’t think that pulling that lever this November for “Jimmy” Obama is going to have any quick relief at the pumps either.  Obama has already said that he didn’t have a problem with the price increase, but he did think it went up too quickly though.

Of course, I’ve heard all the worthless talking points from the Democrats, who all seem to be more concerned about “tree hugging” extremist groups than listening to the everyday working person.  For decades, environmentalists have blocked oil exploration, new refineries, natural gas and nuclear power in America.  Global demand will continue to rise in the future, not to mention what will happen to our price per gallon when, not if, Israel takes out Iran’s nuclear capabilities.  If that happens, we will have car jams at the pumps that will even make Sonic’s traffic on the ? price drink special day look tempting.

I’m no fan of the Oil companies either, who have wanted to keep supply down and the price up, plus I don’t know anyway one can justify the millions that the CEO’s of these companies get.  Of course, drilling isn’t the long term answer, but Americans need help now and can’t wait 20 years for the technology needed to get us totally off of our oil dependency.

So what can one do?  Besides flooding the phone lines of our fearless leaders, one can also be heard by going to americansolutions.com website to sign a petition asking congress to pass a bill authorizing the exploration of proven energy reserves and reduce our dependency on foreign oil.  At the time of this printing, over 1 million concerned Americans have signed the petition that will be introduced to Congress on July 4th as “Energy Independence Day”.
