Today is trick or treat day. Unfortunately, the news coming out of the local United Way isn’t a delicious treat.
At yesterday’s official close of the annual campaign, the Crawford County United Way was about $30,000 short of goal. That means a lot people who need our help will come up short next year.
It is like getting a rock in your candy bag.
The United Way touches so many, many people in our home county. Nineteen agencies largely depend on the success of the United Way campaign. They are: American Red Cross; Big Brothers Big Sisters; Catholic Charities; Crisis Resource Center of Southeast Kansas; Elm Acres Youth and Family Services; Family Resource Center; Girl Scouts; Boy Scouts; Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice; Kansas Legal Services; Kids First Day Care and Pre-school; Mother to Mother Ministry; Pittsburg Community Child Care Learning Center; SEK-CAP Emergency Shelter; SEK Respite Services; The Salvation Army; United Cerebral Palsy; Wesley House; and the YMCA
Please do what you can and dig deep into your bowl to see if there might just be one last candy bar you can give away. Please call 231-8140 to offer your help.
