Dear Editor,
This letter is in response to Sherry Roberts, regarding the cat situation on Stillwell, south of Centennial. My husband and I have lived in the area since 1980 and during that time cats haven’t been a real problem until the last few years. We now have numerous cats running free in the neighborhood.
Ms. Roberts, my husband and I would prefer not to have cats in our yard attacking the bird’s nests, invading our vehicles (yes they will jump into our vehicles if we leave a window open), or using our landscaping as a litter box. This past winter there were mornings we had to clean up a mess in our garage because a cat slipped in the night before as our garage door was closing.
After reading about the traps, I did call Animal Control to find out the regulations. I was told that if I have a stray animal in my yard, including cats, I can call Animal Control and they will set a trap or they will loan me a trap and I can set it. The animal cannot be harmed in any way, but it can be released at another location.
We are not opposed to neighbors having cats, but please keep them in your own yard or indoors.
