Dear Editor
Here’s another slant to the cat letters. People have a right to protect their property and children against prowling cats. My son is deathly allergic to cats, he is off the charts allergic when he was tested by the doctor in Kansas City. It starts with a running nose and hives, swelling watery eyes, which turns to struggling to breathe. Then we have a trip to the hospital trying to get an asthma attack under control.
For the last few summers we have not been able to enjoy our porch swing and yard furniture due to the cats leaving hair all over the furniture, and within minutes my son can be struggling to breathe. So we had to get rid of all our yard furniture. We have been asked by neighbors why my son doesn’t play outside much. It’s because of allergies and irresponsible pet owners.
Some people need to understand and respect the fact that it’s not just the smell of cat poo, and cat hair, paw prints on vehicles which is bad enough, but that it could be a life and death situation for a child in their own yard.
If people love their pets so much then why let them wander the neighborhood. Please be a responsible pet owner, so my child can enjoy playing in his own yard.
