PITTSBURG —

Dear editor,
Due to the incompetence of the Crawford County Attorney, John Gutierrez, the beautiful bulldogs that were allegedly starved and frozen by Andrew Romanzi before returning them by court order to his ex-wife will not be granted justice by our court system.  Allowing time to expire before bringing the case to trial is inexcusable.
A community, who cares about its animals and has supported a Humane Society for the past thirty-five years, is outraged.  Animal abuse is a crime and should be dealt with as such.  A message needs to be sent to those who neglect and harm the innocent. Kansas state law KSA21-4310 constitutes that starving or intentionally injuring an animal is a Class A misdemeanor which carries a penalty of up to $2500 fine and/or imprisonment up to one
year.  Romanzi walks.
We appreciate the efforts of the Crawford County Sheriff's department who did a great job investigating this case, although it was to no avail.
The only chance that Ed, Baby Girl, Sophie, and Mollie will ever have for justice will be at the ballot box in November.  At that time, their voices WILL be heard!
