Margaret A. Kennedy, 84, of Franklin, died at 9:38 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at Mercy Hospital at Fort Scott, Kan.
Mrs. Kennedy was born July 8, 1928, at Franklin, Kan., the daughter of Pete C. and Margaret Careggio Cambursano. Margaret was a homemaker and also worked at Seward Buick, Bill Williams Chevrolet, and was assistant manager of Meadowbrook Mall. She was raised in Franklin, attended Franklin Grade School, and graduated from Arma High School in 1945. She married Rudy Septak on May 18, 1948, at Franklin, Kan. Mr. Septak preceded her in death June 6, 1957. She later married Vern “Bub” Kennedy on Nov. 15, 1969, at Franklin, Kan. Mr. Kennedy preceded her in death May 16, 2003. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg and was a very active volunteer at the Franklin Community Center. Survivors include a son, Larry (Debra) Septak, of Omaha, Neb., two daughters, Linda (Herbert) Spain of Richmond, Va., and Jeanette (Daniel) Minnis of Pittsburg, 10 grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, son, Charles “Chuck” Kennedy, and two sisters, Vivian Bresso and Paula Bresso.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg with Father Michael Baldwin as the celebrant. Burial will be at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery. Rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma where the family will receive friends until 7:30 following the rosary. Rudy Widmar will give a eulogy following the rosary. The family will be at the home of Larry and Debra Septak, 402 N. 4th St., Arma, KS 66735 or Mercy Cancer Care, Unit of Hope, c/o Mercy Hospital, 401 Woodland Hills Blvd., Fort Scott, KS 66701.
