The St. Mary’s Colgan girls led the Liberal Bulldogs 9-5 in the first quarter, then Liberal went on a 28-2 run over a stretch of the first, second and third quarters to build a 33-11 advantage en route to a 48-28 nonleague win Thursday night at St. Mary’s Colgan Fieldhouse.

The Panthers committed 22 turnovers and struggled for extended minutes of the game while the Bulldogs found more of a flow. Liberal scored nine quick points after halftime on two Hanna Beckwith shots, a Megan Rose 3-pointer and Kori Dodson became the first player in double figures with her basket.

Colgan outscored Liberal 11-8 in the final quarter, but it was too little too late after disadvantages of 12-2 and 16-6 in the middle quarters.

Missouri Southern signee Dodson led all scorers with 17 points. Beckwith added nine and Kendall Kirby had eight for the Bulldogs (16-3).

Mariah Klenke scored a team-high 11 points for Colgan and the Panthers (8-5) remain idle until a tough CNC road clash Tuesday with Baxter Springs.
