Pittsburg senior Lizzy Willis was one of five unanimous first team selections by the Southeast Kansas League.
Willis proved to be the all-around floor leader for the Purple Dragons, capable of a double-double every night and proficient at passing, stealing and blocking shots.
Early in the season, in fact the second game of the season, Willis showed Girard her well-rounded abilities with 13 points, 19 rebounds and four assists.
Her classmate, Alaura Short, made second team for her breakout senior season.
Short finished with 10 points her junior season and she bypassed that figure in the first quarter of a career-high 27-point night against Girard. She came back with 24 the next game against Parsons, establishing herself as a legitimate scoring threat.
The other four unanimous selections: junior Anna Hignight of Independence, senior Michaela O'Brien of Labette County, senior Brenna Olson of Chanute and junior Katren Rienbolt of Fort Scott. Coffeyville junior Devin Cosper also received a first-team nod.
Rienbolt was one of four Fort Scott and Olson one of four Chanute selections.
Rienbolt finished with a double-double (23 points, 11 rebounds) in the third place game of the Class 4A state tournament and she averaged 17 points over three games in Salina. Fort Scott lost in the semis to state champion Wamego.
Sidney Maycumber (second team), Ashley Cook (third team) and Brianne Lawrence (third team) rounded out the Fort Scott representation.
Olson led Chanute with 11.1 points per game and 27 three-point goals, plus an 85 percent mark at the foul line.
Anna Bagshaw (second team), Darian Rubow (second team) and Macy Flowers (third team) joined Olson.
Cosper averaged 15.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.2 steals, 1.9 assists and 0.7 blocks for the much-improved Golden Tornado.
The future of the SEK looks bright with four freshmen selected All-League: Bagshaw, Cook, Erica Gartner of Labette County and Shay Kelly of Parsons.
