UCO turned around and marched down the field quickly, lead by quarterback Ethan Sharp, who carved up the PSU defense, ending in a 17-yard pass to Dolphin Davis.

The remainder of the first half was forgettable for the offense. Three interceptions by the Pittsburg State defense gave the offense good field position, but the offense turned the ball over twice while within the UCO 10.

The first goal-line turnover came on a Cardell Clemons fumble at the 2 from a run that started at the 7. The very next drive, following the second interception of the night by Bryant Sanchez, marched all the way to the UCO 7 before Jeff Smith threw an interception in the end zone directed for Bristan Kelly in the waning minutes of the first half.

PSU came out on offense looking strong before penalties killed a drive deep in Broncho territory. But the field position was still good enough for a 31-yard field goal by Jake Craig to make the score 14-10.

Zac Dickey got hot after a three-and-out by UCO. He ended up hitting Jon Thomas on a 28-yard touchdown pass in the middle of the third quarter to give the Gorillas their first lead of the season.

UCO responded quickly behind the legs of Josh Birmingham, who opened the drive from UCO's own 10 with a 40-yard run. Carter Whitson completed a couple of passes to get UCO down to the PSU 20, before Chris Robbs nailed a field goal to tie the game.

After Pittsburg State missed a field goal, Carter Whitson, UCO quarterback, came out strong. Whitson ran for 37 yards on the ensuing drive, which lead to a 36-yard field goal by Chris Robbs to take the lead again.

A strong kickoff return gave PSU the ball near midfield, and Zac Dickey soon converted on a 46-yard keeper on an option play to give the Gorillas a late lead.

With time getting down to 2:53 left in the game, UCO went for it on fourth and six from its own 10-yard line. When Whitson's pass fell short of his receiver, PSU took over, and quickly iced the game. PSU turned and handed the ball to Terrence Isaac until he pushed his way in for a 3-yard touchdown to put the Gorillas up 11.
