TAHLEQUAH, OKLA — Pittsburg State University football pushed their winning streak to three games to start the season after defeating Northeastern State University 45-7 on Saturday.

Including 2017, the Gorillas have won nine straight.

The No. 23 ranked Gorillas scored 24 consecutive points to close out the Riverhawks. Pitt State Quarterback John Roderique completed 12 of 16 passes for 108 yards.

Tyler Adkins had 17 carries for 125 yards. Lorenzo West chipped in four receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown.

Redshirt freshman B.J. Bradbury also got into the action for the Gorillas, launching a touchdown pass to Brenner Clemons.

Roderique rushed for 44 yards and a touchdown on the ground. As a team, Pitt State ran for 285 yards on 52 rush attempts.

Matt Magee returned a interception for 45 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter.

The Gorillas held the Riverhawks to 196 total yards. Northeastern State quarterback Cade Yeager passed for 167 yards, but completed only eight of 26 pass attempts.

Yeager found Ryheem Brummitt for a 61-yard touchdown strike, but threw three interceptions in the game.

Pitt State clogged the rushing lanes throughout the night, allowing only 29 total rushing yards.

Next week, Pitt State takes on Nebraska-Kearney on family night in Pittsburg on Saturday.
