PCMS falls to Columbus; 2nd at SEK

The Pittsburg Community Middle School girl’s basketball team dropped three games to Columbus on Tuesday night.
In the 7B game, the Dragons were defeated 24-4 as Diawa Swain had two points for Pittsburg. Hayley Uttley recorded six rebounds and Miranda Moore had three steals.
The Dragons fell, 34-8 in the 7A game as Marti Sinclair led Pittsburg with six points and seven rebounds. Katy Short recorded four steals.
Bethanne Elliott had a game-high 15 points and also picked up a team-high six rebounds and five steals, but it was not enough as the Dragons fell 39-24.
Last weekend, at the SEK Tournament, both the Dragon 7A and 8A squads finished second.
The 7A team defeated Parsons, 28-20 but fell to Coffeyville in the championship, 30-25.
In both games, Katy Short led the Dragons with 17 points against Parsons and 15 against Coffeyville. Sinclair had six points in each game.
Pittsburg defeated Coffeyville, 23-16 in the 8A bracket, but fell to Independence, 28-12.
The Dragons will travel to Independence today for a 3:30 tipoff.
