It seems like it is the same old song as the St. Mary’s Colgan football team enters the Class 2-1A state playoffs.
For the fourth year in a row, they will play host to the Sedan Blue Devils at 6 p.m., tonight at Hutchinson Field.
But don’t think for one moment that Colgan (8-1) head coach Chuck Smith thinks that this is getting old.
“This is the playoffs and this is an exciting time,” Smith said. “If this gets old, then we have problems.”
Even taking into account that the Blue Devils (2-7) are dressing just 20 players for tonight’s game, Smith said that this is not the time to take things lightly.
“This is the game of football and we have to be ready ourselves,” Smith said.
Sedan head coach Rick Chrisman said that it is becoming old hat to have his team’s season ended at the hands of the Panthers.
