The Pittsburg YMCA Shooting Stars National Gymnastics Team recently competed in the YMCA National Championships in Phoenixville, Penn. on June 24.
Pittsburg was the only team representing Kansas at the championships.
In total the team earned 37 medals, 6 of which were gold. In addition, the level 8 team placed eighth. 
Abby Yarick and McKenzie Craig, both qualified for level 8 All-Around finals after placing in the top 25 of all level 8 sessions combined. Brinkley Born also qualified for championship all-around finals, along with individual event finals on each event. At the end of the competition Born was named to the YMCA All American team, for the second year.  
Gymnasts earn a spot on the All-American team by placing in the top ten in the All-Around of the Championship division, the highest level of YMCA competition.
“Overall, we had a very successful Nationals, and I was so proud of each of the girls,” said Pittsburg coach Hannah Thomas. “The girls represented our community well.”
Other individual results included:
• Brooklyn Wyland  —  7th Place Beam;
• Olivia Joy  —  3rd Place bars, 4th place bars, 3rd place floor, and 4th place all around;
• Lexi North  —  4th place bars, 6th place beam;
• Abby Blansett -  3rd place vault, 1st place bars, 1st place beam, 2nd place floor, 1st place floor;
• Elizebeth Blansett  —  6th place bars, 6th place floor;
• Hope Yarick  —  5th place vault, 6th place floor;
• McKenzie Craig  —  8th place vault, 3rd place beam, 4th place floor, 19th place in all around at level 8 finals;
• Abby Yarick  —  2nd place vault, 10th place bars, 6th place beam, 20th place in all around at level 8 finals;
• Alli Baden  —  9th place floor;
• Rachel Farmer  —  4th place beam;
• Emily Baden  —  2nd place bars, 1st place beam, 3rd place floor, and 2nd place all around;
• Betty Noonoo  —  3rd place bars, and 5th place all around;
• Brinkley Born  —  6th place vault, 3rd place bars, 1st place beam, 1st place floor, 2nd place all around.
The girls represented our community well,” Thomas said. “They were positive, confident, good sports, and great teammates. It was fun to watch the girls; compete well, achieve their goals, support each other, and having fun being part of a team.”
