Testa leads PSU track in Nebraska

Junior Tim Testa raced to an impressive victory in the 800 meters Saturday (Feb. 6) at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational.

Testa crossed the finish line in one minute, 54.02 seconds, edging Nebraska's Brett Gooden by .49 seconds for the victory. The Junction City, Kan., native turned in an all-time indoor personal best time, attaining a provisional qualifying mark toward the 2010 NCAA-II Indoor Nationals.

In other action at the Frank Sevigne Invite, senior MJ Hassaballa placed third in the mile run in 4:17.69, while senior Jeremy Jackson finished seventh in the 60m hurdles (8.02). Junior Ethan Hobbs placed ninth in the pole vault, clearing 16-0.5, while senior Brian Allen failed to earn a mark in the shot put, fouling on all three of his attempts.

In addition to the Gorillas' contingent competing at Lincoln, Neb., other Pitt State team members took part in the UCM Mules Relays at Warrensburg, Mo.

Highlights from Warrensburg included freshman Cody Holland placing third in the shot put (51-5) and sixth in the weight throw (50-7.5). Junior Brett Sieglie placed fourth in the triple jump (45-3.75) and senior Gavin Wuthrich finished foruth in the weight throw (53-10.5).
