PITTSBURG —

The Pittsburg High School junior varsity baseball team was the benefactor of 10 walks surrendered by Independence pitchers en route to a 5-4 win in the first game of a doubleheader on Monday.
Danny Phalen was the lone offense for the Dragons, going 2-for-2 with two RBIs as Pittsburg had a big four-run second inning in the win.
In the second game, the Dragons had solid pitching from Jordan Elliott and Danny Phalen as the duo held Independence to just four hits and no runs as Pittsburg defeated the Bulldogs 10-0 in four innings.
Now the Dragons will travel to Altamont to face Labette County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
