It’s returning players like Dontae Johnson, Lee Reliford, Tucker Thompson and big man Zack Stewart, as well as a veteran coaching staff led by head coach Brad Smith.

Those four returning players combined for 63 points Tuesday, as Labette County blew out Frontenac 77-44 in the Grizzlies’ season opener.

Stewart made 10 field goals and one 3-point shot, as well as two free throws, en route to a game-high 25 points. He scored 16 of his points in the second and third quarters, including 10 in the quarter immediately after halftime.

Reliford scored 17, Thompson 11 on the strength of three 3-point shots (he caught fire last season in a Class 4A substate game against Pittsburg) and Johnson 10. The Grizzlies shot 13-for-17 at the free throw line, paced by the 4-4 of Johnson.
Brett Macary led Frontenac with 13 points and Caleb Spangler added eight, highlighted by two 3-point shots. The Raiders made 12-15 free throws.
