The last time that Southeast and Frontenac squared off in baseball, Raider pitcher Brett Marshall tossed a one-hitter in a 2-0 loss in the first game of a Crawford-Neosho-Cherokee League doubleheader on April 21.
On the other hand, Southeast hurler Zach Dainty gave up just two hits in the win.
Frontenac came back to take a 14-4 win in the second game.
The same two teams will get a shot at each other on Monday as they open up the first round of the Class 3A regional baseball tournament at Frontenac at 4:30 p.m.
Southeast (9-11) is fresh off a non-league sweep of Neodesha whereas the Raiders (10-10) have not played a game in over a week.
The winner will take on regional top seed Galena (16-3) at 2 p.m. Thursday at Riverton in the regional semifinals.
The Girard Trojans (8-10) travel to the Class 4A regional tournament in Chanute to take on defending regional champion Labette County (9-11).
The Grizzlies were recently held to just one run in a 7-0, 9-1 sweep at the hands of Southeast Kansas League champions Pittsburg.
That game will be played at 4 p.m. Monday at Neosho County Community College.
The Girard-Labette County winner will face the winner of No. 1 Coffeyville (13-7) and No. 8 Columbus (4-13) at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Katy Park in Chanute.
Northeast (5-15), playing in the St. Mary’s-Colgan Class 2-1 regional tournament will travel to Uniontown (5-5) to face the Eagles in the first round at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
The Vikings completed the CNC schedule with a sweep of Erie last week.
Top-seeded Colgan (19-1) received a first-round bye in the tournament and will take on the winner of No. 4 seed Oswego (6-7) and No. 5 seed Chetopa (7-11) — a team that Northeast defeated earlier in the season — at 2 p.m. Tuesday at JayCee Ballpark.
A win for the Vikings will put them in the semifinals against the first-year program from St. Paul (5-5), a No. 2-seed, at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday also at JayCee Ballpark.
