It came down to the end, but a balk gave the Girard Trojans a spot in Wednesday’s Class 4A regional baseball tournament semifinal at Chanute.
In the bottom of the eighth, the Trojans, who managed just three hits on the night, scored to win 2-1 over Labette County.
Tanner Poppe went into extra innings for the Trojans to earn the win.
