Raiders beat Lancers

The Frontenac Junior High 8A girls seemed to pick up where they left off last year as seventh-graders.
The Raiders knocked off Southeast 41-10 behind 10 points from Bailey Flora, eight from Haley Wilson, seven from Rachel Amershek and six from Andi Palumbo on Tuesday night.
The Lancers were led by four points from Rylie Dainty.
In the 7A game, Taylor Smith picked up 12 points in a 22-14 win for Frontenac. Tabor Spurling and Allyn Murray each had four and Aubri Stahl added 2.
Madison Thompson led the Lancers with eight points and Olivia Powell had five.
The Raiders will travel to Riverton on Thursday.

PCMS sweeps eighth-grade hoops
IOLA — Mercedes Vogel had 11 points and four steals to help led the Pittsburg Community Middle School 8A girls basketball team to a 28-15 win at Iola on Tuesday night.
Samantha Garrett added eight points while Bethanne Elliott had eight rebounds and four steals.
Mariah Zerr led the Dragons with eight points and five steals as the 8B squad knocked off the Fillies, 18-8.
Mattson Steele had six points and Megan Davis recovered five rebounds.
In the 7A game, Katie Short had all of Pittsburg’s 15 points in an 18-15 loss. The Dragons shot just 1 of 12 from the free throw line.
Haley Uttley had nine rebounds while Camille Kent collected eight boards.
Megan Rink scored three points in the Dragons 21-5 loss to Iola in the 7B contest.
The Dragons will host Parsons at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Girard takes on Frontenac Monday
GIRARD — A game that might not have produced a lot of points was still a win for the Girard Middle School 7A girls basketball team on Monday night.
The Trojans got four points each from Morgan Herlocker and Allie Bennett and knocked off Frontenac, 10-8 in non-league action at Girard.
Aubrey Stahl, Taylor Smith and Macie Broyles each had a pair of points for the Raiders.
The Girard 7B squad defeated Frontenac 20-13 as Megan Grey led the Trojans with six points. Rebekah Taylor and Allie Bennett each had four.
Frontenac’s Maggie Evans led all scorers with eight.
In eighth-grade action, Natalie Coomes scored nine and Haley Wilson and Bailey Flora each had seven to lead the Frontenac 8A team to a 32-16 win. Tristan Broce had four for the Trojans while Devin Walsh and Audrey Bauer had three.
Jackie Herring pitched in 10 points to pace the Frontenac 8B team to a 33-2 win over Girard. Kendra Samuels was the lone scorer for the Trojans.
Girard will travel to Northeast on Thursday.
