The inaugural Central Bank/Salt City Bowl will feature the No. 20 Hutchinson Blue Dragons playing host to the No. 16 New Mexico Military Institute Broncos at 1 p.m. on Dec. 5 at Gowans Stadium.

Hutchinson Community College head football coach and bowl coordinator Rion Rhoades made the announcement on Tuesday, the first day bowl pairings could be announced.

The Blue Dragons are 6-4 and will be making their first bowl appearance since a 15-10 victory over No. 14 Tyler Junior College in the 2004 Heart of Texas Bowl.
New Mexico Military is 7-3. The Broncos are making their first bowl appearance in 10 years.

“There were a lot of candidates.” Rhoades said. “You look through the Top 20 and there were a lot of good teams. Our committee narrowed it down to five or six teams that we had conversations with over the phone. We were looking for No. 1 a good team that had a good season and we looked for a team that was hot late in the season.”

The Broncos finished tied for third in the Western States Football League, but beat league champion Arizona Western.
