Haskell Indian Nations jumped out to a 10-point lead against Missouri Southern on Saturday night.
However, a poor second half doomed the Indians to a 94-71 loss to Missouri Southern Saturday night in the Chatters/Comfort Inn Classic at John Lance Arena.
Haskell (1-8) shot just 35.7 percent from the field in the second half compared to over 53 percent in the first half.
Haskell kept pace with the Lions (2-1) throughout much of the first half, as they took a big lead early.
D.J. Fish and Jimmy Wilkett each had double-figures in scoring in the first half for Haskell as Southern had Jason Adams with nine.
But, the turnover bug caught up with the Indians as they coughed up the ball 27 times over the course of the game — 19 in the second half.
The Lions started off slow, but were able to get four players in double-figures led by Adams and DaRell Crittendon’s 16 points each. Skyler Bowlin added 14.
Missouri Southern also won the rebound battle with the Indians, 43-35. Haskell had outrebounded the Lions 19-13 in the first half.
Dominic Clichee, who was sick during the first half, recovered and led Haskell with 16 points on 7 of 14 shooting.
Vince Chavez had 15 points as Fish ended the game with 14 for the Indians.
