The Girard Trojans, the Frontenac Raiders and the Southeast Lancers all picked up plenty of postseason recognition when the Crawford-Neosho-Cherokee League released its All-CNC League selections.
Girard senior lineman Tom Castellani made first team offense and first team defense, an unanimous selection on the offensive line as he helped pave running lanes for prolific Girard running backs Matt Perez and Anthony Scholes. Perez received first team recognition as both running back and defensive back.
Scholes made second team as running back and defensive back. Senior linebacker Heath Lord made second team.
Honorable mention selections for Girard were sophomore Devin Vail and junior Jalen Merrell on defense and sophomore Kevin Rowe on offense.
Frontenac junior offensive lineman Kylor McCartney and senior linebacker Brandon Swallow were both unanimous first team selections.
Junior defensive lineman John Murray joined Swallow on the first team defense.
Junior running back and defensive back Bryce Burdette made second team at both positions. Sophomore offensive lineman Brett Macary and junior defensive lineman Cody Lindbloom also earned second team honors.
Frontenac honorable mention picks were Macary and junior Tanner Craig on defense and senior Kyler Vena and junior Devon Keith on offense.
Southeast freshman kicker Ryan Rakestraw earned a first team nod.
Junior offensive lineman Justin Galloway and junior quarterback Josh Thompson made second team.
Southeast honorable mention selections were freshman Riley Ulery and junior Jason Reed on defense and junior Daniel Peak on offense.
Ineligible for a league title because of a schedule which only allowed four league games rather than at least five, St. Mary’s Colgan football players were excluded from receiving All-CNC League honors.
