Crawford-Neosho-Cherokee League football champions Riverton placed six different players on the All-League first team, which was released Monday by Galena High School.
Brad Hefley, the Rams’ junior, was a unanimous selection as a linebacker and was placed on the first team as a tight end. Rams’ senior Brenton Cates was also a unanimous selection at defensive back.
Rams’ head coach Cory White was named the league’s coach of the year.
In addition to Hefley, Riverton placed two offensive linemen (Chase Williams and Aaron Darnaby) on the first team, as well as running back Cates and defensive lineman Jacob Fry.
Chase Mead was a first-team selection as a defensive end, and Darnaby repeated as a defensive lineman.
St. Mary’s-Colgan senior Chas Smith earned first team nods at quarterback and at outside linebacker.
Stu Jeck was also a first-teamer at receiver.
Galena had six players on the All-CNC first team.
Offensive lineman Tyler Morton joined receiver Colton Leet and running back Troy Albright on the offensive side and senior defensive lineman Boon Whittenmeyer earned a defensive nod along with Morton as a linebacker. Jacoby Martin was picked as a first-team defensive back.
Frontenac had one player on the first team in senior offensive lineman Trenton Mayberry.
The Girard Trojans placed three players on the first team.
Senior offensive lineman Taylor Peak and senior linebacker Stanley Brown were picked to the first team for the Trojans. Senior Johnny Webb was a first-teamer at defensive back.
Southeast’s sophomore punter Dalton Powell earned a first-team nod as did Baxter Springs’ running back Cody Spencer. Spencer also repeated on the first team as a linebacker. Erie kicker Michael Yarnell was the first-team kicker.
Galena junior quarterback Jacoby Martin headed up the second-team selections.
Riverton’s Jacob Fry was picked on the offensive line along with Baxter’s Daniel Jones, Colgan’s Seth Soper, Erie’s Robbie Hall and Galena’s Boon Whittenmeyer.
Cody Perry was picked to the second team as a tight end from Galena and Erie’s Tyler Kiister and Riverton’s Shiloh Murphy were the second-team receivers.
At running back, Brown from Girard joined Matt Tyree from Riverton and Southeast’s Daniel Rank on the second team.
On the defensive side of the ball, Chase Williams of Riverton, Daniel Jones of Baxter Springs and Regan Kays of Colgan were picked as the second-team defensive linemen.
Galena’s Chase Keyser was the second-team defensive end and Tyree was the outside linebacker.
At linebacker, Frontenac’s John Oppliger was picked to the second team along with Riverton’s Nick Smith, Southeast’s Ryan Martin and Colgan junior Jesse Watt.
Rank, Jeck and Leet were the league’s second-team defensive backs.
