After finishing the first day in fourth place, former St. Mary’s-Colgan golfer Charlie Sloan roared back to finish second overall in the 18-over division of the Junior Section Team Championships Wednesday at Carey Park in Hutchinson.
Sloan shot a 71 on the day and had a 143 two-day total to finish in a four-way tie for second, three shots back of Chanute’s Jeremy Gant.
Girard’s J.D. Heatherly improved on his first day’s score of 79 with a 77 on Wednesday to place tied for 14th with a total of 156.
In the 16-17 division, Frontenac’s Kolter Krumsick moved up to finish fourth overall with a second-day 72. Coupled with his first day score of 72, Krumsick finished with a 144.
Pittsburg High School golfer Jon Nichols finished the day with a 77 and placed tied for 13th in the division and Fort Scott’s Cole Murrin was tied for 18th with a two-day total of 153.
Andrew Joy, of Pittsburg High School, finished 19th in the 14-15 division with a total of 168 and fellow PHS golfer Michael Hudiberg shot a 172 to place 21st.
