Frontenac Junior High prepared to host Thursday’s tournament with a sweep of Galena in four games on the Raiders’s home court.
The most dominant game of the night came in the seventh grade A game, which Frontenac won 52-12. James Brooks and Tyler Nystrom led the team with 12 points each and John Barrows also scored seven points in the game.
The closest game of the four was the eighth grade A game, in which Brett Macary scored 18 points to push the Raiders to a 38-26 win. Galena’s high scorer was Sivert with nine points.
Frontenac won the seventh grade B game 40-14 behind Zack Siebuhr’s 12 points and Kyle Loy’s nine points. Wilkins scored eight points for Galena.
Frontenac completed the sweep with a 35-14 victory in the eighth grade B game. Chance Medlin scored 12 points, Jake Chrisman scored 13 points, and Chase Turner scored 10 points to account for the team’s points.
Southeast sweeps NE
Southeast beat Northeast in three games at home Monday night.
Dustin Saporito scored 17 points for Southeast to overcome Nick Younge’s 26 points for Northeast in a 50-45 Southeast win in the eighth grade A game.
Caleb Spangler also scored 12 points and Taylor Lewis scored 11 points for the Lancers while Shawn Major scored nine points for the Vikings.
The seventh grade A game went the Lancers’s way, too. Ryan Rakestraw scored 13 points and Jace Burdette scored 10 points to help the Lancers to a 41-22 win. Drake Courtney and Dennis Hasley scored seven points each in the losing effort for Northeast.
Southeast won the combined B game 31-25. Matt Marsh scored 10 points for the Lancers and Joey McDowell scored 12 points for Northeast.
