Girard’s Tanner Edwards had a good night on Monday night.
So good in fact, he found the fence at the Frontenac Sports Complex three times to help pace the Girard 11-12 All-Stars to a 33-10 win over Arma in the first round of the Little League North Division tournament Monday night.
Edwards tallied three home runs, including a grand slam in the third inning as Girard plated 19 runs in the frame.
Arma had a solid second inning by scoring eight runs but Girard came back and scored nine in the bottom of the second and then their 19-run third.
Jason Burton and Tim Peternell each scored a pair of runs for Arma in the loss.
In the 9-10 All-Star game, Girard’s Quintin Ausemus stole the show as he scored three times and also threw a complete-game — notching 10 strikeouts and no walks — in Girard’s 21-4 win.
In addition to Ausemus’ three runs, Spencer Warner scored a triplet of runs for Girard.
Colton Trejo did score two of Arma’s four runs Monday.
Both of Girard’s All-Star teams will take on Frontenac with the 9-10s squaring off at 6 p.m. and the 11-12s following at 8 p.m. — both games at the Frontenac Sports Complex.
