n Ten Star All Star Basketball Camp. Applications are now being evaluated for the Ten Star all Star Summer Basketball Camp. The Ten Star All Star Summer Basketball Camp is by Invitation Only. Boys and Girls ages 10 - 19 are eligible to apply. Past participants include: Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Vince Carter, Jerry Stackhouse, Grant Hill and Antawn Jamison. Players from 50 States and 10 Foreign Countries attended the 2007 Camp. College Basketball Scholarships are possible for players selected to the All - American Team. June 5-8 — The 2008 Crawford County Open is scheduled for June 5-8. June 5 or June 6 wil be at Countryside Golf Course, June 7 at Four Oaks and June 8 at Girard Golf Course. n The Pittsburg Elks Lodge will be sponsoring free golf lessons for all kids in Crawford County ages 10-18 at Countryside Golf Course. Leagues
n Pittsburg Family YMCA taking sign-ups for its Kinderkick soccer program, for 4- and 5-year-olds. Program will begin April 9. Interested persons should register by March 30. Program runs for four weeks, meeting on Wednesday nights, with two weeks devoted to instruction and two weeks devoted to games. Contact the Pittsburg Family YMCA, 231-1100.
n Pittsburg Parks and Recreation will offer a British Soccer Camp from June 2-6. If you sign up before April 18, your child will receive a free British Soccer replica jersey. You can register online at www.challengersports.com or at the Parks and Recreation office at 710 W. Ninth. Fees are $58 for ages 3-4, $81 for ages 5-6, $97 for ages 7-9 and $97 for ages 10-16.
n The Boys & Girls Club of Joplin will be taking registration for its spring soccer league for kids aged 3-14 from March 17 to April 15. n YMCA baseball signups are set for May 12. Practices begin the week of May 18 and games will begin June 7. Boy’s minor league is for boys who are six years old or who will turn six during the summer. Boys major league is for those who are eight years old and for seven year olds who wish to play in the league. A pitching machine will be used in the major league. n YMCA softball signups need to be completed by May 12. Girls T-ball is for girls six or those turning six during the summer, and for seven year olds. GIrls machine pitch softball is for girls 8-10 years old. For more information, call 231-1100.
n Pittsburg Parks and Recreation is taking signups for adult Spring Softball leagues. This is a four-week league with teams playing two games per night starting April 7. Men’s and coed games will be played on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday nights. Leagues are limited so signups are on a first come first serve basis. The early bird deadline is Tuesday, March 25 and the fee is $195. Final deadline is Tuesday April 1 with a fee of $215. Registration forms can be downloaded at www.pittks.org or picked up at 710 W.
