Tournament
• June 6 — Greyhound Golf Classic hosted by the Fort Scott Community College Athletic Department held at the Fort Scott Country Club. Tournament will be a 4-person scramble format and check-in will begin at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Lunch will be provided following the tournament. • July 19 — 3 Player Scramble Golf Tournament sponsored by the Girard Medical Center Foundation on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at the Girard Golf Course. Camps
• June 9 — The Pittsburg Family YMCA will conduct a youth baseball camp for boys and girls aged 5-7 beginning June 9. The camp will be conducted by area high school baseball players and will stress the basic fundamentals of T-ball and regular baseball as well as good sportsmanship. Only a limited number of entrants will be accepted and you can sign up at the Pittsburg YMCA or call 231-1100 for more infomation.

• July 18-20 — The Girard Legion baseball team will be sponsoring a youth baseball tournament July 18-20 at Red Wutke Park in Girard. There will be separate divisions for second grade and under, third grade, fourth grade, fifth grade, sixth grade and a combined division for seventh through ninth grades. Second grade and under will use a pitching machine. Entry fee for second through sixth grade will be $100 and $125 for grades seven through nine. VOLLEYBALL
Camp
• The Pittsburg YMCA will have a girl’s volleyball camp June 16-18 and is for girls going into the fourth through sixth grade and will be from 1 - 3 p.m.. Camp director will be Sara Mitchell. Register at the YMCA or call 231-1100.
T-BALL
Leagues
• The Pittsburg Family YMCA is now accepting sign ups for it’s Pee Wee T-Ball program. The program is for four and five year olds and will be played on Tuesday nights, beginning June 3. Participants should sign up before May 20. Only a limited number will be accepted. For more informationm, call 231-1100.
Instruction
• There will be a free instructional T-ball basics program for all 4-5-year-old boys and girls. Practices will be held at 10 a.m. each Saturday in June at Field No. 3 at Wutke Park in Girard. Players should bring a glove and a soft T-ball with them to practice. For more information, contact Rod Murphy at 724-6879. Parents are welcome to assist in the practices.
ETC.
• The Pittsburg YMCA will conduct a sports camp for boys and girls aged 4-6 on June 2-4. This camp will introduce campers to several sports such as flag football, soccer, T-ball and basketball. Emphasis will be placed on fundamentals, general exercise and fun. There will be a mini-olympics the last day of the camp. The camp will be from 10 - 11 a.m. Tuesday through Friday and will be under the direction of Sara Mitchell. Sign ups will be taken at the YMCA.
• Altamont Saddle Club beginning its Friday Fun Night series April 11 at the Altamont Saddle Club Arena. Books open at 6:30 p.m. with show starting at 7 p.m. Events include barrels, poles and flags. Classes include midgets (8-and-under), juniors (9-13), intermediates (14-17) and Senior/Open Class.
