Aaliyah Edwards leads UConn women past Butler 79-39

STORRS, Conn. (AP) — Aaliyah Edwards scored 20 points and No. 5 UConn routed Butler 79-39 on Saturday.

Aubrey Griffin and Lou Lopez Senechal each had 17 points for the short-handed Huskies (17-2, 10-0 Big East), who have won 10 in a row. Dorka Juhasz scored 14 points.

Jessica Carrothers and Sydney Janes each had seven points for the Bulldogs (7-13, 2-9).

The Huskies outscored Butler 38-14 in the paint and 21-5 on the fast break.

UConn announced Friday that leading scorer Azzi Fudd, who re-injured her right knee last Sunday against Georgetown, will be on crutches for two weeks before being re-evaluated. Caroline Ducharme and Ayanna Patterson remain in concussion protocol.

NO. 16 GONZAGA 82, SAINT MARY'S 57

MORAGA, Calif. (AP) — Yvonne Ejim scored 24 points to lead all five starters in double figures and Gonzaga rolled to its 12th straight win.

Kaylynne Truong had 14 points and five assists for the Bulldogs (19-2, 9-0 West Coast Conference). Brynna Maxwell, the nation’s top 3-point shooter at 53.3%, had 12 points but went 2 of 7 behind the arc. McKayla Williams added 11 points and Eliza Hollingsworth 10.

Taycee Wedin scored 21 points for the Gaels (10-10, 4-5), who never led.

NO. 18 IOWA STATE 64, KANSAS 50

AMES, Iowa (AP) — Ashley Joens scored 26 points and collared 15 rebounds and Iowa State defeated Kansas.

Reserve Izzi Zingaro added 11 points and six rebounds for the Cyclones (12-4, 4-2 Big 12).

Taiyanna Jackson scored 13 points and had 15 rebounds for Kansas (13-5, 3-4). Zakiyah Franklin 11 and Wyvette Mayberry 10 for the Jayhawks.

Lexi Donarski’s 3-pointer with 38 seconds left in the first quarter put Iowa State up 15-12 and the Cyclones never trailed again.
