Multidisciplinary teacher-scholar Hyeryung Hwang gives a lecture, “Barbaric Modernities,” on her studies and research in world literature and cinema, incorporating theories of imperialism and colonialism, at the Overman Center on Pittsburg State University’s campus Thursday evening. Hwang’s talk was the 29th annual Emmett Lecture, which is sponsored by the Emmett family, the PSU English Department, and The Midwest Quarterly in memory of the late Victor J. Emmett Jr., a professor of English for 23 years.
