Betty Jo Bresnick

Betty Jo Bresnick, 98, of rural Pittsburg, passed away at 5:59 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Oakview Estates in Frontenac.

She was born April 14, 1927, in Pittsburg, to Elva and Clara (Drewel) Pummill. She graduated from Pittsburg High School and attended Pittsburg State University.

Mrs. Bresnick worked for Belle Telephone Company before becoming a homemaker.

On June 6, 1947, she was united in marriage to Frank James Bresnick in Pittsburg. He preceded her in death on Oct. 17, 2017.

Membership was held in the First Christian Church of Pittsburg. Betty was a former member of St. John Lutheran Church in Pittsburg. In her spare time, she was an avid golfer, bowler and loved playing cards and bingo.

Survivors include a son, Marc Bresnick (Anna) of Pittsburg; a daughter, Joy Vertz (Dick) of Fayetteville, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Paula Vertz, Caleb Vertz (Mindy), Jennifer Bresnick (Jacob Mikanowski), Ryan Bresnick (Jessica Saia) and Angela Espinoza (Gene); and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Charles, Archie and Harold Pummill, a sister, Edna Reynolds, and a grandson, Gabriel Vertz.

Marc and Anna would like to thank Oakview Estates for all the TLC they gave to Betty. She was well taken care of by their kind, caring staff. God Bless ALL of them.

A Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 3, at Brenner Mortuary with Rev. Dustin Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to First Christian Church and/or SEK Humane Society. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary.
