Betty Lois Grilz 86, of Frontenac, KS died at 5:40 p.m. Saturday, July 9, at the Medicalodge Nursing Home in Frontenac, KS following an illness.
Betty was born December 5, 1935, in Frontenac, KS the daughter of Sergio G. and Leda (Moriconi) Tassi. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Frontenac High School in 1953.
On January 7, 1956, Betty married Robert L. Grilz Sr. in Miami, OK; he preceded her in death on July 19, 2002. Betty worked as a lunch lady for several years for Frontenac Elementary School but mostly was known as a homemaker. Betty was a member of the Frontenac United Methodist Church; she loved BINGO, cooking in her early years and most of all her grandkids.
Survivors include her children Robert Grilz Jr. of Girard, KS and Sarajo Pyle and husband Steve of Girard, KS; grandchildren Joseph Grilz and fiancée Sheldynn Reynolds of Ft. Worth, TX, Cody Grilz and Leah Ruark of Girard, KS, Kayla Funkhouser and husband Kris of North Vernon, IN, Aaron Pyle and Morgan Clark of Pittsburg, KS, and Hannah Meeker and husband Joseph of Jay, OK; and great-grandchildren Jalee Grilz and Jayne Meeker.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter Cathy Grilz and daughter-in-law Kathy Grilz.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, at the Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac, KS with Pastor David Kang officiating. Burial will follow at Frontenac City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to the Frontenac United Methodist Church.
