Douglas Allen Shultz, 71, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away on, February 29, 2024, in Olathe, KS, with his family.
Douglas was born on January 22, 1953, to Lonnie and Ruth Shultz, of Pittsburg, KS. After Douglas graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1971, he went on to study biology for two years at Pittsburg State University.
After graduating, Douglas started his career at Miller's Professional Imaging, running one of the first enlarger printers. He had a career in photography and printing with Superior Printing, Harvest Brands, and owned his own business, Print Graphics. Douglas concluded his working years in maintenance for Yost Properties and Pepsi Bottling Co.
In 2017, Douglas, retired from Pepsi Bottling Co. and he spent his last three years living with his family in Olathe, KS. He spent his time enjoying Lake Olathe, near his family's home. He enjoyed spending time outside tending to the apple trees, grapevines, and observing local wildlife. He was proud of his grandsons and loved to spend time with them and with his dog, George.
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Ruth Shultz; and brother, Jerry Shultz.
Douglas is survived by sons, Jeremy Shultz (Kristyn) of Olathe, KS, and Allen Shultz of Tampa, FL.
He became known as "Grandpa" to his two grandsons, Gavin, 11, and Beckham, 4, as well as many other kids and friends in the neighborhood.
Doug never knew a stranger and was always willing to give a helping hand to all who knew him. He was a very mechanical person, who shared his love of fixing things with his son and grandsons. One of his favorite times of the year was Christmas, where he enjoyed spoiling his kids and grandkids.
A celebration of life will be held at 311 Club, 311 E. 7th Street, Pittsburg, KS on March 23, 2024, from 1:00-3:00pm. The family requests that those that have photos of Douglas, bring them to share and donate to the family as a special way to memorialize him. Friends and family are invited to come visit and share special memories at the informal celebration.
