Emma Rita Hartzfeld, 100, of Arma, Kansas, died at 11:48 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2023, at Carrington Place Residential Center in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Mrs. Hartzfeld was born January 12, 1923, in Oak Park, Illinois, the daughter of James and Phyllis Felice Fioramonti.
Mrs. Hartzfeld was a homemaker who had been a resident of Arma since 1973. She recently celebrated her 100th Birthday party with family and friends. She worked alongside her husband for Hostess Cake Company in Aurora, Illinois, while maintaining her home and family.
Emma married Joseph C. Hartzfeld on March 10, 1956, in Miami, Oklahoma, and was married for 47 years. Mr. Hartzfeld preceded her in death in 2003.
Survivors include her children, Connie Morelli-Kretschmer of Arma, Jeanette (Carl) Gambino of North Aurora, Illinois, Joseph (Cheryl) Hartzfeld of Arma, and Michael Hartzfeld of Pittsburg. Emma was a loving mother and grandmother and is survived by 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hartzfeld has been cremated according to her wishes. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2023, at the Bedene Funeral Home in Arma, Kansas, with Pastor Don Talent officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday prior to the memorial service. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date at the Rosebank Cemetery in Mulberry, Kansas. The family suggests memorials to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kansas 66712.
