Galen Leroy Snow, 78 of rural Cherokee, KS, died May 1, 2025, at his home.
He was born July 24, 1946, in Pittsburg, KS, the son of Leroy and Audrey Hannah (Richards) Snow.
He attended the Centerville Country School through the 3rd grade then on to Cherokee Grade School, he graduated from the new Cherokee High School in 1965. He joined the Army National Guard in 1965 and completed his basic training at Ft. Bliss, TX and summer camps in Minnesota.
On Nov. 21, 1972, he was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Christmore in Girard, KS; she survived him of the home.
Galen farmed his whole life starting by milking cows in the 6th grade. He also worked at the Parsons Livestock Auction and later Fuel Dynamics Coal Company and Bill’s Coal Company until their closures. He was also a lifetime member of the Crawford County Saddle Club and competed in the Tri-State Horse Show and Shodeos.
Survivors include two sons: Daniel Leroy Snow of Cherokee and Kevin Wayne Snow of Cherokee; two sisters: Marsha Hartman of McCune, KS and Martha Bailey of Frontenac, KS; a brother Jimmy Joe Snow of Las Cruces, NM; grandchildren Cheyenne Kramer, Danaya (Colton) Baert, Baylee Lynn Snow, Makayla Snow, Kylee Snow, Wyatt Snow; great-grandchildren include Skyler Lee Ann Kramer, Spencer James Kramer, Adaline Jo Hobbs and Ellie Lou Ann Baert.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday May 5, 2025, at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Weir with Pastor Ben Scott officiating. Family will receive friends Sunday May 4, from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Cherokee. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com.
