Karen Marie Badart, born April 9, 1952, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Pittsburg, Kansas, Karen was the beloved daughter of Angela (Peak) and Forrest Patterson. She attended St. Mary's Catholic schools and graduated in 1970 from Colgan High School.
Karen's life was marked by resilience and determination. As a single parent, she worked tirelessly, taking on various jobs to support her family. Despite the challenges she faced, Karen pursued her education and eventually graduated from Pittsburg State University. In 1978, she began her career at NPC, where she later became Gene Bicknell's personal assistant, a position she would hold until her passing.
More than her professional accomplishments, Karen will be remembered for her selflessness and compassion. She was a pillar of support for her family, friends, and colleagues, always going above and beyond to ensure that those around her were cared for. Her kindness and generosity touched the lives of many.
Karen is survived by her three children: Julie Badart and her partner Jon Mack, Shawn Badart and his wife Susan, and C.J. Badart and his wife Lori, all of Pittsburg; mother Angela Patterson; two brothers: Kent and Kevin Patterson; two sisters: Kayla Martinez and Kathy Warner; She leaves behind nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.
She is preceded in death by her father, Forrest Patterson, and her nephew, Anthony Martinez.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg with Fr. Michael Simone officiating.
