“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, Laura Lee McCormack. Born on Oct. 2, 1952, to Arthur and Laura Ing and passed on to be with our Lord and Savior on Nov. 3, 2024.
Laura was an extraordinary mom and grandma. All of her 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren called her Brammie. She lived for her family every day of her life. She was kind, generous, and compassionate to everyone she met. Her favorite thing was having all her family together and sitting there listening to them talk.
Laura worked for many years at Sears in Pittsburg, where people still remembered her smiling face years after she left!
She is survived by daughter, Jodi Ellenburg and her husband William, their two kids Seth Ellenburg (wife, Mallory and daughter Eliana), and Nathan Ellenburg. Daughter, Kelly Provence and her husband Nic, their two kids Christian Provence-Harmon (husband Garrett Harmon), and Nicco Provence. Daughter, Meghan Young, her son Jalen King, and husband, Terry, their 4 kids, Terry Young III and his son Treyson, Ashlie Young (partner Aaron Luders and their son Jiraiya Joseph), Tevaris Young (partner Alexys and their sons Kaizen and Asta), Danielle Young and her daughter Alyse.
Her legacy will live on in all of her family. Additionally, she was co-founder, along with Carol Jemison, of the Community Thanksgiving Dinner at St. John’s Lutheran church in 1982 that still feeds hundreds of people each year.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Laura Ing, and her daughter Heather McCormack.”
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at the Crocker Cemetery with Pastor Robert Lewis officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Brenner Mortuary in Pittsburg, KS. Memorial donations can be made to the Smithfield Christian Church.
