Margaret Joann Wood, 81, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away on April 02, 2024, at her home in Pittsburg, KS.
Joann was born on August 6, 1942, to John and Lucille (Frogley) Burrows in Chetopa, KS. She graduated from Chetopa High School in 1960. She married Samuel F. Lancaster. They later divorced.
Joann worked for the United States Post office in Chetopa for 43 years retiring in 2006. She moved to Pittsburg, KS, in 2012.
Joann enjoyed her yardwork and having flowers in her yard. She enjoyed her "Pool Gang" swimming class with her friends at the YMCA. She also loved watching her grandchildren's sporting events. Membership was held at the Pittsburg Nazarene Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Debbie Roark (Bob Noble) of Pittsburg, KS, Dana Mullin (Jason) of Gardner, KS; Kim Smith (Josh) of Frontenac, KS; seven grandchildren, Zane Roark (Payton), Zack Roark, Ty Roark, Sam Roark, Lawson Mullin, Brylie Smith, Brogan Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Cole Roark and Woods Roark. She is also survived by her friend and neighbor Margaret Butler, and seven childhood friends for "75 years" Alice, Joyce, Patti, Rena, Sue, Janice, and Joan.
She is preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Bobbie Lou Swanwick, Patricia Anne Patterson, and Carol Jean Cassell.
A graveside service will be on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa, KS, with Pastor Adam Parrish officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Brenner Mortuary in Pittsburg, KS. Memorial donations can be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
