R. Daniel "Dan" Huntsinger

R. Daniel "Dan" Huntsinger, 73, of rural Pittsburg, passed away at 9:35 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2023, at his home.

He was born June 18, 1949, in Carona, Kansas, the son of Claude V. "Jiggs" and Mildred D. "Mildean" (Miklos) Huntsinger. He graduated from Southeast High School. Following high school, he graduated from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelor of Science in Automotive Engineering and a Master's degree in Industrial Technology.

On August 15, 1970, he was united in marriage to Peggy Russell. They were later divorced. He then remarried and later divorced.

Dan worked for First Federal Savings and Loan, Bank IV, Boatmen's, and Nations Bank as a commercial lender and retired as an Executive Vice President. After retirement, he and Bob Scifers owned BBD Systems, where he did the maintenance and serviced their car washes. He was a part-time cattleman and financial, mechanical, and life consultant to his many friends. He enjoyed the outdoors and living in the rural area of Pittsburg. 

Membership was held in the Cherokee American Legion.

Survivors include his daughter, Heather Wilson, and her husband, Jeff of Columbus, Kansas; two granddaughters, Shelbi and Sierra Wilson; a brother, Art Huntsinger, and his wife, Elaine of Pittsburg; a niece, Rachel Howard, and her husband, Scott; and a great-niece, Jessica.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Huntsinger and Mildred Huntsinger-Oberbeck, a brother, Don Huntsinger, and a sister, Deanna K. Phillips.

A visitation will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 8) at the Brenner Mortuary. The family suggests memorials be given to the donor's choice. These can be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary.
