Talaat Yaghmour

Talaat Yaghmour, 82, of Leawood, Kansas, passed away Saturday, Dec. 24, at his home.
Talaat was born March 23, 1940, in Cairo, Egypt, to Edouard and Madeleine Yaghmour. He graduated from Jesuit schools and went on to study medicine in Cairo. He was a family pioneer, emigrating from Egypt in 1966 after completing his medical degree. Talaat did a rotating internship in Newburgh, New York, and completed his residency at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. A fellow of the American College of Surgeons and certified by the American Board of Urology, he established his Urology practice in Pittsburg, Kansas, in 1972, where he served the community for over 40 years.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who, more than anything, cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. Talaat loved his grandchildren dearly and was a regular at their many activities. He was a man of steadfast faith, lived a life of service to others, and throughout his life, served on many charitable and community boards. Talaat was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother Kamal. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 54 years, Marie (Tawil) Yaghmour; three children, Ted (Lisa) Yaghmour of Nashville, Tennessee, George (Dana) Yaghmour of Pittsburg, Kansas, and Veronica (Peter) Mallouk of Leawood, Kansas; nine grandchildren, Anthony, Andrew, Vanessa, Lauren, Danielle, Mya, Michael, JP, and Gabby; his brother, Medhat (Mona) Yaghmour; his sister-in-law, Laila Yaghmour; and his brother-in-law, Elias (Magda) Tawil and their families.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, with the funeral mass starting at 11 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel, 14251 Nall Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas, with Father Brian Schieber as the Celebrant. Burial will be held at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Overland Park.
There will be a memorial mass and celebration of life at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 109 E. 9th St., Pittsburg.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Michael the Archangel, Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Fund, Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, or Pittsburg State University.
