The Pitt State volleyball team fell 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-13) to Emporia State on Saturday night.
Pitt State hit just .020 to .327 (Emporia State) for the match. The Gorillas tallied 21 kills, while the Lady Hornets had 33. ESU also outblocked the visiting team, but only by one, 8.0 to 7.0.
Brooke Fay led PItt State with five kills. Crystal Whitten, Leah Flynn and Haylee Gregory each added four. Jordan Rehm led the team with 10 digs.
Katie Deutschmann led all players with 12 kills for Emporia State and Meg Schwartz led with 15 digs.
The Gorillas return to John Lance Arena on Wednesday to face Southwest Baptist at 7 p.m.
Pitt State fell 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-11) to No. 5 Washburn at Lee Arena in Topeka on Friday evening.
The Gorillas struggled offensively, not hitting over .100 in any set. Washburn, on the other hand, hit .301 for the match, including .440 in the final set. Pitt State did outblock the Lady Blues, 6.0 to 1.0.
Paula Okrutna led Pitt State with five kills. Brooke Fay and Leah Flynn each contributed four. Setter Becca Pearson recorded a double-double on the night with 10 assists and 13 digs to lead the team in both categories. Jordan Rehm shared the team lead in digs with 13. Okrutna led the team in blocks with two, both were solo blocks.
Washburn’s Jessica Fey led all players with 11 kills.
