Crawford County has some property it would like to get rid of.
On Friday, the Crawford County Commission approved a resolution to advertise for sealed bid nine properties that the county has received through its tax sale.
“The time has expired to where I can now offer them for sale,” said County Counselor Jim Emerson. “The thought is to try and get those lots back on the tax rolls.”
All nine of the properties have a fair market value under $50,000 and Emerson said that the county has no use for the parcels of land.
Six of the pieces of property are located in Pittsburg with two in Girard and one near Cherokee.
Emerson said that the county will start accepting sealed bids and, if no bids are submitted, properties will be offered during the county’s tax sale.
“It would be helpful if some of the neighbors of the properties showed interest in some of them,” said Commissioner Bob Kmiec.
Emerson said that bidders can bid for one or all of the tracts that are available and bids have to be submitted to the Crawford County Clerk’s office. The time scheduled to open the bids is 10 a.m. Tuesday Sept. 28 at the Crawford County Courthouse in Girard.
In other business, commissioners:
• approved a resolution refunding $267.35 in taxes for an error in property tax assessment;
• approved the August 2010 County Clerk’s report.
