The St. Paul Communications class held a contest for the first graders to see what they would do on a snow day. The first, second, and third place winners were to have their stories printed in the newspaper and all other participants would be recognized. Winners were judged based on originality and creativity. When we told the first graders about the contest they were all really excited and all wanted to participate.
The three winners were Emily Richenburg, Nikki Newberry, and Eron Ewan. Below you will see copies of their stories.
My Snow Day
BY EMILY RICHENBURG
On my snow day, I would like to make a snowman. I would like to drink hot cocoa. I would want to go down a hill on a sleigh. We could eat snow! I could have a snowball fight with my whole family. I would be the winner of the big snowball fight!
My Snow Day
BY NIKKI NEWBERRY
On my snow day, I would want to go ice-skating. I would have a snowball fight with my brother. Guess who would win? ME! I would like to make snow angels. I would like to build a snowman. I will drink hot cocoa.
My Snow Day
BY ERAN EWAN
On my snow day, I would play with snowballs and roll around in the snow. I would throw snowballs at my brother. When they throw it back at me, I would throw it back at them.
We would like to congratulate the three winners and thank all the first grade students who participated.
