This year the Saint Paul FFA Chapter Officers were excited to learn that they would get to go to the FFA National Convention. On Wednesday, the 24th of October, the officers along with FFA advisor and teacher Miss Rachael Pierce, took a twelve hour drive to Indianapolis, Indiana.

One of the first things the officers got to do was go see country singer Brantley Gilbert in concert. This was the activity that everyone enjoyed the most. As a part of National Convention, they got to listen to different keynote speakers, one of whom was Scott Hamilton, a former Olympian. “Don’t let someone dictate your happiness” was a quote that truly stuck out to the girls

Miss Pierce believed that the girls gained leadership, communication and time management skills. One of the things Miss Pierce enjoyed was getting to watch the girls experience new things. While they were on their way to Indiana, they stopped in Saint Louis and went to the Gate Way Arch, which was something new to the girls.

This year there was the convention organizers set a volunteerism  goal to make one million bags of food, which were to be handed out to people in need. As a part of their experience, the officers got to help make these bags while at the convention. As they were assembling the bags, they felt like they were making a difference. They were excited to learn that, not only had they reached their goal, but they exceeded it.

Overall National Convention was an experience that won’t be forgotten.
