This year there are four people swimming for St. Paul High School. They are Erin Duncan, senior, Darbi Ahlquist, senior, Sara Greenough, junior, and Shawlisa Pollman, junior. On March 27th in Winfield, Erin Duncan swam the 200 free, 100 free, 200 medley relay, and the 200 free relay. Sara Greenough swam the 100 breaststroke, 50 free, 200 medley relay, and the 200 free relay. Shawlisa Polman swam the 50 free, 100 free, and the 200 free relay. Darbi Ahlquist swam the 50 free, and 200 medley relay.
April 3rd, the team competed at Winfield again and Erin Duncan qualified for the State swim meet with her time in the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle. Erin has been swimming for seven years and stated that she loves to swim because one uses every muscle in one’s body. Erin enjoys the challenge of swimming and works hard to improve her times.
Sara has been swimming for eight years, Shawlisa has been swimming for two years and this is Darbi’s first year in competitive swimming. Last year Sara made it to state in the 100 breast stroke and placed 5th in the 1-5A finals. Sara says she loves swimming because it is a good sport to workout in and she just enjoys it.
The team will finish their season with meets at El Dorado, Emporia, and Osawatomie.
