Each year St. Paul Schools present a Veteran's Day program.  This year it was held on November 10th and it is in its' eleventh year.
Mrs. Julie Spieth and Mr. Lewis Hundley are directing the program this year.  They are following the traditional United Service Organizations format with songs, skits and performances by the band, drum line and choir. This years theme was Fleet Week.
All of the performers are students who volunteer their time and talents. Mrs. Spieth stated, “I like to see the students enjoy themselves, however we aren't doing this just to entertain but to honor the veterans.” Mr. Hundley stated that it is an important event and he wants to please the veterans and show them the respect they deserve.
In addition to the performances, the St. Paul Alumni and Friends honor one veteran every year with the Joseph G. Crager Maroon & Gold Heart award. Individuals in the group nominate veterans and then vote. The one with the most votes is awarded the honor. The recipient of the 2009 Joseph G. Crager Maroon & Gold Heart is Howard Kennedy. Congratulations to Mr. Kennedy and Thank You to all of the veterans who have fought for our country. We are forever in your debt.
