After nine years of serving as a GHS Kayette co-sponsor, instructor Kelly Burnick has decided it is time to step down from that position.
Mrs. Burnick helped sponsor many different activities for the club, including service projects for the community, club events, service projects involving the school, and conferences.
For the community she organized Kayette assistance for the Salvation Army Ringing of the Bells, the Girard Easter Egg Hunt, and the Lions Club Pancake Feed.
In addition, she organized Pennies for Patients and breast cancer awareness fundraisers and Christmas caroling at the Heritage Nursing Home.
Various club events she helped put on include the Big Sis & Little Sis program, the annual Christmas party and the Mother-Daughter Tea.
Mrs. Burnick also helped the club give back to the school by sponsoring Big Man on Campus and Guardian Angels and providing assistance for RVH Super Kids Day.
During her nine years as co-sponsor she helped host two KAY conferences at GHS and has taken Kayette delegates to regional and unit conferences every year.
She also transported members to and from KAY camp in Rock Springs and assisted two area presidents who were elected from the GHS Kayettes.
Regarding her time as co-sponsor, Mrs. Burnick said, “I have learned that being involved as a sponsor is what keeps the club alive, and I have really enjoyed serving alongside my Kayette club members the past nine years.”
Kayla Pruitt, who has served with Mrs. Burnick as co-sponsor the last four years, said, “Mrs. Burnick has worked incredibly hard over the last nine years as a Kayette sponsor. The members and I really appreciate her dedication to the program."
The Kayettes would like to thank Mrs. Burnick for all of her hard work and dedication to the club. She will be missed.
Robyn O’Malley will serve as the new co-sponsor with Mrs. Pruitt.
